Project Background:

In my Digital Graphic Design: Tools and Methods course I was given the task of choosing a nonprofit organization and to redesign their logo and website. The nonprofit I choose was The Ocean Cleanup. To redesign the logo and website we used the following tools;

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Figma

  • Adobe Acrobat

  • Adobe Photoshop

Goal:

To redesign the logo and website of The Ocean Cleanup using the tools listed above.

Logo Redesign

The first task we were presented with was to take the already existing logo of The Ocean Cleanup and redesign it in a way that the new logo contains both graphics and words.

First Step

The first step we had to complete was hand sketching out 30 potential logos. Which as you can view below was done simply on white blank paper with a pencil.

15 sketches of The Ocean Cleanup logos, drawn with pencil.

Second Step

From the 30 sketches I choose number two. I then went onto Adobe Illustrator to create my new design for the logo based on my chosen sketch.

The Ocean Cleanup redesigned logo with The Ocean Cleanup in light blue text in the right corner with a green turtle to the left of it taken up a majority of the image.

Website Redesign

Our second task was to redesign the homepage for The Ocean Cleanup. In our redesign of the homepage we needed to incorporate our new logo that we created. This was done on Figma.
